53 Old Amesbury Line Road: William George House

William George (1790 – 1885) (Amos, Gideon, John/Ann Swaddock) marries Hannah Pearson in 1815.  A William George buys 2/3 of 19 Wharf Lane in 1821. In 1824 a William and Hannah sell 2/3 19 Wharf to Samuel C. Foot.

1826, Apr 15:  Amos and Sarah George to William George (242/262). On road leading from Rocks Village to Plaistow then running southwest 11R 16L by said William Chase’s land to a S&S, then running southeast on land of Amos George 7R, then north east 11R 16L by said George land to s&s, then north west by highway 7R. (containing 1/2 acre)

1827, Oct 3: (250/186). Amos and Sarah to William George. A certain piece of land containing 151R (about 1 acre) bounded beginning at highway leading to William Chase and at the corner of William George then running southeast 2R on said highway to land of Amos George, then southwest 21R 17L to land of Ephraim Elliot then northwest 9R 13 L to land of William D. S. Chase then southeast 7R then northeast 11R 16L to bound first mentioned.

1827 Amos’ probate dated 1827/9. Amos dies Dec 1827. John S. Morse of Amesbury is administrator. It takes until 1857 to probate the will.

1828, Nov 1: William and Hannah George to Stephen Morse (250/186) A certain piece of land with buildings Beginning on the highway from the school house to Plaistow at the corner of William Chase and running sw 27R 15L to land of Ephriam Elliot then se 9R 13L then ne 25R 5L to land of Amos George Esq. deceased to the highway above mentioned then 9R to bound first mentioned contained about 1.5 acres.

Somehow Stephen Morse got another 1.5 acres adjoining this land between 1828 and 1849. Have not found deed yet.

1849, Apr 19: Stephen Morse and Hannah B. Morse to John L. Orne (3147/37) 3 acres. Dwelling House and barn bounded easterly by road leading to Plaistow, southerly by land of Mrs. George, westerly by land of James Elliot, and northerly by land of W. D. S. Chase.

1849, Apr 19: John L. and Mary S. (Moody) Orne to Stephen Morse of Newton NH (450/100) mortgage for above property.
