School House Lot

The Rocks Village School seems to have been in at least 2 and perhaps 3 different locations.

On the 1851 map from the Library of Congress, it shows the map in the triangle between what is now known as Amesbury Line Road and East Broadway.

On the 1872 and the 1892 maps, it is shown to be where 366 Amesbury Line Road is today.  In 1985, the City of Haverhill sold to the Merrimac Child Care (7823/362). Plan 198/94

Written in on an 1832 map, it suggests that the school was down 12 rod way.

In 1875, William H. Colby was paid 64.77 to paint the school house.

1842, Aug 27:James C. Elliott to School District 14. Beginning at the point between the Road that leads to county bridge and Haverhill-town and running on each said roads about 8R to the land of James C. Elliot thence by Elliott by about 6 R to the wall now stands. This is up near Kimball Farm’s Buffalo pen.
