Charles C. (1804 – 1867) purchases land in RV in 1861. Hannah Goodwin (1824-1901) Ramsey, his wife continues to live in RV and buy and sell land until her death when she bequeaths the land to her children around 1901. She lives at 15 River Road in 1870

William Henry Ramsey (Charles C.’s son) buys land that becomes lots 10, 12, 13, 14 from Lizzie R. Morse in 1894 for $125.87. He bequeaths his land to his children in xxx when he passes away

Charles B. and Ida M. Ramsey owned 15 Wharf lane along with Harry W. Colby from 1929 to 1932.

Mrs H. Ramsey is paid for uniform by the Protector #3 fire station. This is around 1873.

  1. William Ramsey (1740 England – 1777 Newburyport) married Elizabeth (Betsy) Sargent (1741 – 1799, 58y) in 1768. Elizabeth is descended from William Sargent (1598-1606 England – 1675 Amesbury) who settled in west Amesbury and was buried at the “Ferry”. She is d of Lewis Gilman and Mary Jane Farrington, m in 1824 in W. Newbury, and descended from Steven Gilman whose parents were Jacob Gilman and Mary Ladd, granddaughter of Daniel Ladd the immigrant through his son Nathaniel (see Ladd family), Mary Jane is descended from Aquila Chase through his daughter Sarah (see Chase family) [30-Sutherland] William and Rosina live with Rufus K. Chase in 1865 (Rosina is listed as shoebinder and he cordwainer) census. Rosina came from a family of 14 children. Most of their married life was spent in RV in the old homestead. In 1902 city directory he is listed as shoe maker living on East Broadway and n. at Main Street RV. He was the first president of Greenwood Cemetery association and caretaker 1888 – 1918.

George was single and living as a boarder in 1910 and married living as lodger in 1920 and listed as taxidriver. In 1930 he was listed as chauffeur and living with just his daughter Pauline. In 1940 living on Amesbury Road and listed as alderman and taxicab and married to Annie L. Ramsey. He started the Haverhill Taxi Cab company and left money for a memorial dedicated to the memory of his father who was caretaker. Spaces for paupers to be buried in Greenwood cemetery. The Essex Genealogist V 39, No1. He was drafted in 1917 and 1942. In 1940 he was in Jail and was on the City council.  In 1940 he was living in Ward 4 with his wife Anne L. age 34 and daughters Sandra and Dianne (Ages 5 and 3)?

“In the 1840 census, there is a Charles C. Ramsey in the 30-40 age range in Newton, New Hampshire, and a Charles Ramsey in Amesbury in the 60-70 age range, who should be the Charles Ramsey born in 1775.

The next family in the 1840 Census is an Amos Tozier (an ancestor of mine), who married a Hannah P. Ramsey in 1834.
